Artist Spotlight: Amy Ruppel
We love these trees that illustrator Amy Ruppel submitted. They will be right at home in Portland Paper City. She also created a paper version of Saraveza! Since Amy and Sarah have a history that begins in the Midwest, it was only natural to honor a friend, beloved Portland bottle shop and Packers fan’s haven. Go Pack! – Be sure to check it out at the opening.
Supporter Spotlight: Creative Advocacy Network
The Creative Advocacy Network (a.k.a CAN) has been a great supporter of this project. Check out their submission designed by Alex Marler of Crazy Eight Design. To find out more about CAN, visit their website here.
Thank You!
To everyone who came to the drop-off event and to Saraveza our gracious hosts, we say “thanks!” We received a lot of exciting work that we can’t wait to share with all of you. It was a pleasure to finally meet the artists that we’ve been plotting with via email over the past few months – very exciting! Now we’d like to introduce them to you. For the next two weeks before the show you can expect posts featuring some of the artists that have contributed to this project. Stay tuned…
Drop-off Event Tonight!
Photo by Stuart Mullenberg via Portland Monthly
Join Portland Paper City tonight for the drop-off event you’ve all been waiting for. This will be a chance to meet with other artists, drop-off your work, and grab some food and/or a beverage while we celebrate the close of submissions.
Thursday, February 17th, 2011
6-9pm
Saraveza
1004 N Killingsworth Street, Portland
If you’re unable to make the 6-9pm time slot, feel free to drop-off work during the day by leaving it in the care of a Saraveza staff member. For those of you with large-scale pieces, please contact us at portlandpapercity@gmail.com and we’ll set up an alternate drop-off time, if need be.
Deadline for Submissions is this Thursday!
There are only a few days left until the close of submissions. You still have time to download templates to craft or start an original papercraft. We’ll be collecting work on Thursday, February 17th from 6-9PM at Saraveza. Bring your crafts, meet the artists and grab some food or a beverage. If you can’t make the 6-9PM time slot, feel free to drop by Saraveza any time on Thursday and hand your work to one of the wait staff. We have a room reserved where your art will be safe and sound.
Make sure to submit your name, a brief explanation of why you chose to submit your entry, a short three-sentence artist biography and your preferred contact information (phone, email, website) with your craft. Otherwise we will submit your work as an anonymous entry.
Get crafting Portland!
Thanks Lyrik!
Last week was our last craft night before the show. We want to give J and Keiko at Lyrik a big thanks for hosting. If you missed the event or have not been to Lyrik – check them out. They have great food, drinks, art, and events. We had such a good time crafting and chatting that we forgot to take pictures! A great night overall.
Craft Night at Lyrik
Join us for a Craft night at Lyrik on Tuesday Feb. 8th from 6-9PM. We’ll help you with templates, answer questions about the show and discuss your in-progress work. We’re all ears and we’ll be busy creating* little bits of Portland Paper City. We’ll also be filming our “Making of” video. So come down and be a part of it! If you live in the SE and can’t make the drop-off event at Saraveza on February 17th, this will be a good time to swing by Lyrik and drop-off submissions too.
See you at Lyrik!
*We will bring some supplies but if you want to go all out, you should bring a few of your own too.
